Movie Review: Open Season

March 13, 2007

openseason.JPGOpen Season is the latest talking animal animated movie. This one features the voices of Martin Lawrence as a Grizzly Bear named “Boog”, and Ashton Kutcher as a Deer named “Elliott”. Boog was rescued by a park ranger when he was a cub, and has been raised in captivity. He happens to meet Elliott, and through certain circumstances, they both end up released into the Wild. “Open Season” hunting is about to begin, so instead of cowering to the hunters, they bring the hunt to them.

The movie was made by Sony Animation, and has a different feel to it than a Pixar or Dreamworks release. The animation is quite different, and not as detailed as other CGI-releases, but I like it.

The movie itself doesn’t live up to Pixar films in any way, but it is still an entertaining movie none-the-less. Recommended if you’re in the mood for a light, crowd-pleasing family film.

My Rating: 7/10
